Marilyn Manson – High End of The Low Album Review

What do you get when you take a narcissistic child molesting fetish loving Satan worshipper and eighties music? You get Marilyn Manson’s latest album The High End of The Low. Which coincidentally sounds like an 80′s clone album. Hmm.

It seems like the once idolised shock rocker is losing his shine. He’s perhaps realising that his “I hate god and life” routine is getting a little old and people that liked Manson in the nineties have grown up and matured past the angst teen years of listening to Manson really loud and cutting their wrists with razors whilst wearing their mothers lingerie and make-up.

This new album immediately gives you the vibe of: who ordered a dose of 80′s gay disco club music? Sadly, it’s kind of disappointing to see Manson evolve his sound, because it means that we can no longer blame our problems or more school shootings on his music any more. At least not this album anyway.

No doubt scene kids and so-called ‘retro-goths’ will have already run down to the record store to buy this album dressed in their finest black threads and spiked collars. Yet again they might just download it because all teenagers are copyright violating scum who download music and deserve to be sentenced to 10 years hard labour in a labour prison (now where’s my $5000 for saying that RIAA?).

In all honesty: If you’re expecting another Marilyn Manson Satan loving Jesus hating filled album with more profanity and controversy like his previous material, don’t be surprised when you throw your CD player at an old lady in pure disgust.

This album deserves a 2 out of 10 for not being original and quite possibly managing to rip off Nine Inch Nails and every single 80′s band that ever existed (especially Soft Cell). Every damn Manson track on this album reminds me of the track Tainted Love sung by Soft Cell (not Manson) of which people actually liked in the 80s.

Interesting review! I haven’t had the time to listen to the album, but after reading this, I’m not sure I’d want to. Thanks for the heads up! Will keep this in mind. Looking forward to your next reviews!
