Microsoft Thinks Blind People Can See

I recently downloaded a leaked copy of Windows 7 release candidate and it’s pretty awesome. However, I was going through some stuff and noticed that Microsoft have implemented an accessibility suggestion feature that basically makes accessibility changes based on the criteria you select. Simple, right? Wrong.

Microsoft it would appear seem to think that blind people can see. One of the options on the accessibility wizard is “I am blind”, if this is the first time a blind person was setting up a computer without previously having any other guidance software on, how are they supposed to see this option to select it? I mean they are blind and all..

Take a look at the screenshot below.

The Apple Application Police

If you thought getting your application approved to be placed into the Apple Application Store wasn’t already difficult enough, it would seem an application where you get to shake a crappily drawn baby that doesn’t even remotely look real to death is morally wrong now, and the public + major blogs and news outlets are as well, they are a breed of new politcally correct application police officers complaining on your behalf  about pointless things like a mobile phone application.

Morally wrong? So invading another country based on lies and killing people, capturing them and then torturing them as well is morally right, but creating an application where you get to shake a non-existent baby is morally wrong and people all of a sudden make a stand against it? What. The. Fuck.

A TechCrunch blog author even wrote a story about it and in it mentioned a lady who’s baby was injured after being shaken by the father (this is the lady that brought the application to the attention of CNET, which basically started a big shit-storm). Uh, remind me again what a lady who’s baby was shaken by the father has to do with an application again other than the goal of the application is to shake a baby? Maybe the lady should have been more focused on I don’t know, looking after her fucking child.

Grow the hell up people. If you don’t like baby shaking applications, then don’t download them. If you do, then that’s your prerogative. It’s ironic, if someone made an application just like this but replaced the baby with George Bush instead, and it was approved, no one would even complain about it! hows that for double standards.

Google + Your Information + Stalkers = New Service

Google Recently introduced a new service into it’s pool of about 1,000 other services it already has called Google Profiles which allows stalkers to easily identify you in Google searches.

Gone are the days when a potential employer would do a Google search on your name only to discover you’ve been secretly boasting about ripping off your previous company and stealing information, and thus costing you the job you wanted so dearly.

Now a potential employer, stalker or debt collector can simply type your name into Google and find all there is to know about you and where to potentially find you.

This new service from Google is very useful, but at the same time if you’re not careful you might find yourself in some psychopaths shed shackled to the walls while he tortures your anal passage with things not meant to be put into that area.

Want to hunt down an old girlfriend or school bully and perhaps teach him a lesson? Want to find that ex-wife that you used to beat everynight and day only to discover she skipped town with the kids while you were at the bar? Use Google Profiles, and say thanks Google.

Oprah Bloats Twitter, Yay

Recently Oprah found out about this big net thing that let’s you get information on stuff called the Internet. Soon after finding out about this ‘Internet thing’, she found the website Twitter (you know the time wasting website with the dumb owners who can’t answer questions in interviews?) and created an account.

Now with anything Oprah does, she blabs on and on about it on her television show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. And naturally anything Oprah likes, does, eats or says, the salivating dogs, oops, I mean stalker crazy fans will also like, do, eat and listen to everything Oprah says and does.

So Oprah goes “Folks, I’ve found a special website that allows you to send messages on the Internet, oh my god people, can you imagine such a thing that allows you to do that?”. Her audience then gasps in amazement as they have never heard of Twitter, let alone the Internet before.

So then, a few thousand soccer mothers bug their children to find this Twitter thing because Oprah uses it. Now here’s the trivial question: Will these new signups thanks to Oprah’s big fat mouth be one signin wonders? Will these baby making, male hating feminists use it once because Oprah does and then forget they signed up or don’t know how to use it due to their tiny brains?

I think Oprah has just bloated Twitter with a lot of users who won’t do anything but inflate Twitter’s user count, which I am sure they will be grateful for as they can use it to gain more funding if they need it.

Virgin Broadband Is Crap

If you’re considering getting Virgin Broadband, think again. It’s a festering pile of dog crap that has been stepped in by a pair of  Richard Bransons expensive shoes. It randomly disconnects, times out all of the time, fails to load web pages and P2P is capped in speed.

It won’t let me play games, barely lets me send email sometimes and even has difficulty sometimes loading Google. Clean up your act Virgin, you’re a disgrace.

/rant.

Virgin Broadband Features

  • Constant dropouts (even when you’ve got full signal)
  • Network connectivity problems
  • Overloaded and congested towers degrading Internet performance during peak hours
  • Customer service staff who are trained to blame you for Virgin’s network connectivity problems
  • Expensive monthly costs for a crap service
  • A network that runs like anything but a Virgin. Sometimes it feels like 1000 other people are connected to the same tower at the same time
  • Random disconnections. It will randomly disconnect completely requiring you to reconnect at random times (even early hours of the morning when next to no one would be on)

Pirate Bay Founders Going To The Slammer, Do We Care?

As you may have already heard, the founders of the notorious torrent tracker ‘The Pirate Bay’ are heading for a nice comfy jail cell, not to mention receiving huge fines, after losing a massive court case in Sweden in which they are going to appeal but will probably lose as well.

piratebay438_279914w

You're going to miss the Internet boys.

The Pirate Bay founders are regarded as file-sharing heroes even though file-sharing was around way before TPB was, so how does that work out? I mean, the Pirate Bay wasn’t even a good resource anyway. Everyone leeches, nobody shares, that’s the problem with public trackers, people have no reason or obligation to seed like private tracker members do.

Sure places like the Pirate Bay stick it to the man and allow anyone from the public to download movie’s, games, applications and music until your hard-drive explodes. But are people really that stupid to think that such a commercialised and advertised website would go undetected and last forever? They brought this attention upon themselves. If they didn’t have advertisements, they would probably have gotten off lightly and not did any jail time at all.

Don’t bring up the Google argument again, because Google doesn’t go boasting about it’s search engine index containing games, software, music and more. Websites like the Pirate Bay openly admit on their sites that they index this stuff. You don’t see Google with a link on it’s front page saying: Want to download music, games and software? Search Google. Of course Google know that you can find pirated shit on their search engine, they don’t make it known though, do they?

So the question is: Do you actually care that the Pirate Bay founders are going to jail and lost the massive court case? And how does the Pirate Bay losing this case harm file-sharing? I don’t see the correlation between the Pirate Bay and all other websites both public and private.

Think to yourselves… Do you really care that the founders are going to jail, or what will happen to you and your so called freedom which doesn’t actually exist?

The Pirate Bay owners don’t care about you or any of the other sites visitors. All they care about is money and fame from bringing negative attention towards themselves and inevitably causing their own demise.
